Fucking Verizon…I HATE Verizon

I just noticed an unexpected (and decently sized) jump in my phone bill for this past month. So I took a closer look to determine WTF am I paying for now. As an FYI, I don’t have long distance service on my home phone…don’t need it, don’t use it. I absolutely shouldn’t have any long distance service on my line at all and I always specify that when signing up for phone service. Now, Verizon charges you even if you don’t have/use long distance service. Of course, this minimum charge also gets taxes/fees applied to it in multiple areas. Makes me want to scream…instead, I just have to now find the time to call up and ask WTF? FU Verizon! It’s not even/just the amount of money but the entire illogical principle behind it which screams “we’re just fucking you over because we can…ha ha!” It’s not the government or Ticketmaster (I think it’s almost impossibly hard to be that evil/assholish…I don’t even know how Ticketmaster legally gets away with it, while I know the government just keeps rewriting/sidestepping the laws themselves), but Verizon gets credit for trying. I’m getting billed and surcharged/taxed for not using an extra feature that I don’t want. Oh, the headache.

Mii…yamoto! For Real!

Today has to be one of the coolest days of my life. Guess who I bumped into after eating at In N’ Out. I normally don’t care much about seeing celebs (I grew up here and now that I’m older, I don’t watch many pop TV shows or movies anyway), but I’ll admit […]

Coachella 2007

The yearly pilgrimage was upon me once again. The time to head out to the middle of the desert and braving 100+ degree heat for a musical experience.
For now the summary will be extremely short because I’m very…
a) tired
b) lazy
…at the moment and not in the mood to […]

Georgia Tech Alumni Magazine Interview

A couple of months ago, GT’s Alumni Magazine interviewed two college friends and me for an article about Tech grads working in Hollywood/entertainment. Well, it seems that the interview is (also?) being run in the winter issue of the free alumni publication, Tech Topics. Originally I was told that the interview would only […]

Frii Wii…

I ended up winning a Wii at work last Friday (but only picked it up this Monday). I had already briefly considered getting one, but I consider(ed) the cost far too high ($249 for what it is?…c’mon…$200 tops, $180 is more like it). So I was pretty excited to get one for free…and […]

Kid Koala @ Casbah

I drove down to San Diego to see Kid Koala performing at the Casbah with some of my old friends from my last job. Kid Koala at Casbah is almost like an emerging tradition now. As usual, the performance was awesome. I took a few video clips (you’ll need a coded that […]

Massive Attack @ the Bowl

Not the Osama kind of large attack, but trip-hop hipsters Massive Attack took on the Hollywood Bowl with the help of TV on the Radio. Unfortunately, we arrived a bit late and barely caught the last half hour or so minutes of TV on the Radio’s performance. I felt a bit bad about […]

Hey, Verizon - Bite Me!

I received an email from my DSL provider (Verizon) this morning which briefly made me happy before quickly turning that happiness around and converting it into rage. As you may have read a week or two ago, the FCC is finally dropping the FUSF fee for broadband and the Federal Excise Tax (how did that Spanish-American War finally turn out?!). However, Verizon has an interesting take on how to pass such savings on to their customers…

Thievery Corp Steals the Show

I’m actually writing this almost a month later (now that I finally have some pics), but a friend, his co-workers, and I went to see Thievery Corp and The Flaming Lips at the Hollywood Bowl. Flaming Lips were headlining and while I like a few of their songs (plus their visual presentation), but my friends and I were mainly interested in seeing Thievery Corp.

Rev It Up

This past Saturday some friends and I hopped in the RX-8 (unfortunately, 3 people don’t fit in my friend’s Z06) and hit up the Rev It Up event here in L.A. I missed the past couple years and I was determined to make it this year. This year, Chevrolet was the sponsor rather than Mazda, so the fun of the day was to be spent in Cobalt SSes and Corvettes…there was also a course with Impala SSes, but that’s bullshit. More about that further down. I kind of wish that I had attended one of the Mazda years since they control quite a bit better due to the balance and RWD layouts.
